My Experience and Qualifications

My name is Sonal Dudani and I am the face behind Infinity Maths Tutoring. Why Infinity you may ask?! Just like Infinity, making progress in Maths is endless. My passion is to remove the barriers to learning and boost student confident in Maths.

I gained an Economics and Maths degree (Bsc) from the University of Sheffield in 2006. I went on and gained a PGCE at St Marys University. Since 2007 I have been teaching at a secondary school gaining vast amount of experience over the years. I am currently a Maths Lead Practitioner. I am enthusiastic and pride myself on my relationships with students and their parents. Working as a team is so important in ensuring that students fulfil their potential and make progress.

Over the past 13 years I have taught Years 7-13 ranging across a spectrum of abilities. With Infinity Maths tutoring every student will receive a bespoke learning plan. My teachings methods will be differentiated to meet the needs of individual students.

My Tutoring Approach

Individual Online Logbook

During the first lesson with a new student I informally assess their understanding of each topic relevant to their year group and attainment level and record the outcomes in a colour-coded topics record list.

Every student has a tailored topic list according to the scheme of work and exam board used by their own school. During my teaching career, I have been able to network and collaborate across many schools and therefore have knowledge of the syllabuses and exam board preferences of most local secondary schools. Together, the student and I subsequently use their topic record list to help us identify priority areas and to inform our co-planning of lessons, whilst regularly updating the colour-coding according to their progress.

Each students’ topics list is incorporated into an online, live logbook that is also used to make notes on what we have covered in each lesson and what we together have planned to do the following lesson, along with any homework we have agreed for them to complete in the meantime. The link to a student’s logbook is shared via email with their parents or carers after the first lesson so that they can access it at any time and see how their child is progressing.

Continuous Support Beyond Lessons

I pride myself on being a very adaptable teacher, tailoring my teaching and use of resources to suit the needs and preferences of each student. Students and their parents can reach out for my support outside of one-one lessons at any time; I am always available via phone, email or messenger should one of my students wish to ask me for help with homework or perhaps something they didn't quite understand in their maths lesson at school that day. I am also very happy to set up students with suitable homework or online work they can complete between lessons.
